WHAT WE DO & WHY WE DO IT
History of Heritage: An Act of Imagination
A bespoke 30 minute open air performance piece commissioned by English Heritage as a celebration of their work and the 1913 Act for Ancient Monuments in a fast moving, whimsical romp through the ages, looking at how our attitudes to the physical remains of our heritage has changed.
The audience see the development of the history of heritage through the eyes of our two heroes who help build Stonehenge, bemoan the lack of guidebooks as Vikings attacking a monastery, build an Abbey only to have to demolish it during the Dissolution and become involved in the heritage industry as it begins.
Quick-fire scenes and a light-hearted touch allowed us to cover centuries and impart a lot of information in a way that connected with both our client (EH) and our audiences. The piece was very well received!
